I was here forty years ago shooting La Soldatesse in 1965, when this country was still called Yugoslavia . It was a co-production: there were people from France , Germany , Italy … Among them Maria Adorf, Valeria Moriconne, Marie Laforet… The Director was Italian Valerio Zorinni…

I will tell you an anecdote from that stay in Belgrade . We were somewhere not far from the city, 50 or 80 kilometers I think, and I got lost in the woods. The others from the group had all left and thought I had left with the “other” bus. When they got back to the hotel, they inquired about me and when they understood I was nowhere to be found, they come back for me with the car.

That's how I remember Belgrade after forty years. I also remember I was terribly afraid, I though I was going to stay in these woods. And it was so cold!

I stood at one place for hours after understanding that I was lost, I was afraid they would never find me if I move.

Asked to speak about the years with Godart, Karin said:

-No, I am not tired from speaking about it, for that period in my life was very important for my career. It is a gift that I got in my youth. Godart taught me everything I know about film. I have worked with many other directors and good ones too, but Jean-Luc gave me a real chance in France .

I have danced and sang all my life. Wherever I would be, I never paid attention to the environment. It was kind of cute back then, but had I behaved like that today, I would probably be a laughingstock.

I am to be in Belgrade after so many years. So many things have changed and I don't recognize anything. I hope that I will go to see places that I will recognize and I will be proud of it. I will not go see any mountains to avoid getting lost again!
