B2B - Jury of the “Europe out of Europe” Competition, Dubravka Lakić, film critic of the daily Politika, Pawel Pawlikowski, film director from United Kingdom, and Meinolf Zurhorst, ZDF and Arte Commissioning director, decided to award the Film “To get to Heaven first you need to die” by Djamshed Usmonov, for its original characters and seductive performances, and a story which takes us on a journey that's never predictable, but always convincing.

We would like to mention Armin Omerovic, for his beautifully understated and touching performance in two films screened at the Festival: “Armin”, by Ognjen Svilicic and “the Melon route” by Branko Schmidt.

YU FIPRESCI Award for Best Film of FEST 07

Decision of the YU FIPRESCI Jury

The Jury of film critics, members of the national section Yu-Fipresci – Milan Vlajcic (Chairman), Zoran Djordjevic and Vladimir Dzudovic, has reviewed the films in all available programs of FEST 07 and has made the following decisions:

The Yu-Fipresci Awards shall be handed over to the German film “The Lives of Others” (Das Leben den Anderen) of Florian Hankel fon Donersmark, which in a extraordinarily convincing and moving manner sheds light to the Orwellian effects of controlling people in totalitarian times, which are, unfortunately, still with us.

The Jury has the pleasure to emphasize the formidable presence of a range of new German authors on FEST 07 reminding that the film “The Free Will” (Der Freie Wille) of Mathias Glasner was also one of the top contenders.

In Belgrade, March 4, 2007.
