GO FOR 36TH FEST 2008

The 36th International Film Festival – FEST 08
shall be held from February 22nd to March 2nd, 2008 in Belgrade.

The founder of FEST - the City Hall of Belgrade, the sponsor of the Festival – the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the FEST Committee and the organizer of the Festival – the FEST Directorate hereby proudly announce to the domestic public, numerous and excellent festival audience and partners, that the 36th FEST will be held in the already traditional venues: with the host of FEST – the Sava Center, the Belgrade Cultural Center, the Doma Sindikata Hall and the Museum of the Yugoslav Film Archive.

The 36th FEST shall present in our country, as a premiere, 75 of the best new films from the whole world, the laureates of the most prestigious international festivals, recipients of the most distinguished film awards and works of the most topical authors and actors of global cinematography. On their official screenings in the aforesaid venues – hosts of the Festival, as well as on numerous screenings for journalists, programs on the Faculty of Drama Arts and other places, the forthcoming FEST will also organize nearly 300 professional film screenings, part of which will be attended by numerous distinguished guests from abroad, authors, actors and producers of those films.

Official premiere programs of the 36th FEST will consist of several program entities: “Horizons”, “Discoveries”, “Facts and Puzzles”, a special program of contemporary Russian film and, for the third consecutive year – a competition segment of the Festival comprising a program of eight films – “Europe out of Europe”, as well as the business part of the Festival – “B2B”.

January 10th, 2008 will mark the beginning of the campaign of the 36th FEST entitled: Creative Strategies: FEST is a CHOICE, with the slogan “GO FOR 36TH FEST 2008!” – and as early as on February 1st, the sale of tickets (at affordable prices) will begin for the complete program.

In the course of January 2008, the FEST Press Service will inform the public about most of the films to participate in the Festival, while in late January the complete festival program will be published. As early as in early December 2008, at the choice of the Art Director of the Festival, the FEST Directorate has provided for almost 80% of the official programs, either by independently procuring a larger number of films or in cooperation with domestic distributors.
