Otilia and Gabita share a room in the students’ dormitory. They are college friends in a small Romanian town during the last years of Communism and the reign of the brutal Securitatea. Otilia rents a room in cheap hotel and is to meet a certain Mr. Bebe in the course of the morning. Gabita is pregnant, abortion is illegal and this is the first time any of the girls are living such an experience. The film “Četiri meseca, tri nedelje i dva dana” is the first part of a larger project called Priče iz Zlatnog doba. It is the subjective history of Communism in Romania told through urban legends. The goal of the project is to speak about that period without directly pointing to Communism, but only through different stories focusing on the odds of an individual in a woebegone era, when people had to live as if everything was normal.
The film will have two screenings:
in Sava Center on February 25th, at 17hrs and in Dom Sindikata on February 26th, at 17.30hrs.
