“The film “The living and the dead” carries a strong anti-war message. It begins with Andric’s saying: ‘We are all dead, but we’re just waiting for our turn to be buried.’ I think that, if after seeing this film, people buy at least five rifles less to their kids, we can say with certainty that we have done a good job in this region. The films show the senselessness and the absurdity of all these wars that have happened to us.
I play one of the soldiers, Djora. He is very specific, somewhat funny. I “injected” some humour in him. In that sordid story, he is one of the bright spots. Working on this film was a continuation of Kristijan’s and my cooperation from school. We used to work together while at the university. This cooperation has continued to this day.
The film “The living and the dead” has won the Golden Camera on the Brothers Manaki Festival and the absolute winner of last year’s festival in Pula regarding the number of awards won.
