In the framework of the program Serbia Special, which represents one of the sections of this year’s B2B program, 18 projects will be presented, the authors of which live and work in Serbia. The Producer of the project Miroslav Mogorovic explains:
“After three years, I think that people realized what were the idea and the purpose of the business meetings we are organizing, but professional requirements made us think about a more appropriate representation of the Serbian film. The first year, we had the situation of people scheduling meetings for themselves and speaking about their projects with no particular preparation. Today we have Serbia Special, which is a publication including all the projects that didn’t make it in the pitching. We are introducing the content of those projects to producers; we are putting them on a list and organize one-on-one meetings. It’s nice to see that the number is much greater than last year.
This is a good opportunity for the authors to see, “on their turf”, the interest aroused by their respective projects. They don’t have to pay for the trip, accommodation or visa to check whether they have a good project. It is not a pre-selection. Everything is set up in a very democratic manner. The representatives of co-production markets also come to Belgrade, using this “turf” for scouting for their respective markets. Our goal is for the projects that are included in Serbia Special be presented in the course of the year to the international public.
I am glad that many authors have understood that this was a good way to put their ideas to the test. Co-production markets are an integral part of closing the financial structure of a project. It is difficult to do it if professionals don’t know who you are. It is a form of marketing for the project that is yet to appear, so that, when such projects gets access to funds and those who decided whether it will receive those funds, the authors and their projects are not completely unknown. |
